When dining out in Southern Costa Rica, make sure that you try some of the "Tipico" Costa Rican dishes such as gallo pinto (rice and beans), arroz con pollo (rice with chicken) or arroz con camorones (rice with shrimp). Costa Rica is also famous for their blended fruit drinks called "Batidas". Ask your waitress for a mango, cas, mora or guanabana batida - you will definitely be surprised!
Remember you are in a foreign country and service can be slow. Tips are sometimes added to your bill (10%), along with a service tax (13%). Check your bill before tipping and always reward the restaurant or server by tipping them when they have met or exceeded your expectations. |
