100% of the materials used came from naturally felled trees, sustainable tree farms, and of a recycled nature. The entire home, all 5 levels, are held together using a wooden pin system (no bolts). All wood was chain saw milled on the property and carried out by hand. Each block of wood milled down to precise dimensions in our bamboo shop 3 months prior to construction. This project is 100% green and each day we learn more about using the naturally & renewable resources of the rainforest here in Costa Rica. 1000 sq. ft split into 5 separate floors, full kitchen and breakfast nook, 2 baths with glass bottom shower, and a cool skylight.

About Us

Tree House In Costa Rica

Main level is 40+ft. up in the air, almost as if suspended from the clouds above, accessed by a Mark Twain style rollercoaster of a spiral staircase. 42 stairs up to the top level without ever touching the tree. Your calves will get a work out! The Garden (Bamboo Room) lower level / sleeps 1-2 comfortably & the next level brings you to the studio (Ocean View Room) which is also sleeps 2 and can be converted into a room for 4. Around the corner is a small bathroom with toilet & sink. All beds are queen size beds & day beds. Up 14 more stairs brings you to the main level which also sleeps 2 in an “almost king” bed. This level has a large kitchen, a sit up bar overlooking the Golfo Dulce, a full bath- with GLASS bottom shower (yup you read that right- glass bottom shower that peers completely to the ground). So get ready to become a free fearless kid again. Either that or take a shower on the ground level! Don’t forget to unload your luggage on our “Swiss Family Robinson” style platform, groceries or Grandma. Furniture is mobile & can change depending on the need and number of people! A creative way to maximize space & accommodate guests. All these details were planned for the comfort of guests.

3 species of monkeys use & hang out in the canopy of this tree- Congos (Howlers), Titi’s (squirrel monkeys) and Cara Blanca (white faced). It is a special delight to see the Mom’s with babies clinging tightly on their backs. (Seen from above – looking down on the monkeys) The birds which fly around & through the tree are too magnificent even to describe. And you even have your own private fresh water, spring fed, and continuously running pool at the creek in the rainforest. Our tree house has been described by 2 of the world famous tree house book writers as “world class”, their words – not ours! The tree house is roomy enough for a group of 6 people to be comfortable, hang out & have privacy at night. It is a design like no other- not a single metal bolt, all ancient building techniques & timber framer style like the old covered bridges of New England were built. The house is completely independent of the tree so we did not infringe in any way on the life or health & well being of the tree. You have to see this to believe it.

Though the tree house is touched with wisps of whimsy & tastes of childhood, it is luxurious. From the sheets, to the décor & furnishings, to the location of being nestled between the edge of the rainforest & a short drive to beaches. We have spent the last few years being consumed with details & drawings & many hours devoted to envisioning ourselves in this special home & paying attention to detail. All sleeping quarters have privacy from others, are screened in & have fans- generally not needed at night because we are elevated on the mountain overlooking the Golfo Dulce.

Our property is part of 120 acre private reserve where we have maintained hiking trails. We have large fruit tree gardens, papayas, pineapples, mangos (seasonal) herbs, etc where you are welcome to help yourself. We are walking distance from a wonderfully refreshing Agujas river, full of great swimming holes. We invite you to enjoy our wonderful rain forest- our view to the west is Corcovado National Park. We enjoy spectacular views of Corcovado to our west & Golfo Dulce to the east. We are almost totally isolated in the splendor of the rainforest which is kissed by gulf breezes. Our gardens provide our home with the most exotic tropical flowers you will ever see! Your rental fee also includes a maid (she comes in once one week)

We are only a very short drive to the best beaches & surfing is also close. The closest beaches are only about 5 minute drive. We are 13 km from Puerto Jimenez where you will find banks, restaurants, groceries, gas stations, and many services. We can also have the tree house stocked for you so you have a full or starter pantry if you let us know in advance. We can point you in any direction you want for any activities you may want to do while here- from zip lines, canopy tours, water skiing & tubing on the Golfo Dulce, swimming with the dolphins, wild life refuge & orchid farms, all kinds of hiking & guided jungle tours, swimming, body surfing & wild waves or family friendly waves- beaches all VERY close by. There are all kinds of things to do- or you can hang in the hammocks & do nothing at all! We can also help you with a car rental.

We confirm your reservation with 50% deposit & the balance is due no less than 90 days prior to your arrival. ( 90 day cancellation policy ) If you are interested, we can secure your reservation as soon as you decide to live in the canopy. We also require a $500 deposit, which is refunded after departure as long as the house is left in the same condition as it was found (minus basic cleaning which we provide). The weekly rate is $2200. Costa Rica is a vacation to remember for a lifetime & ours is your home while you are here. Let us know if you have more questions. Vacation & Live high in the canopy.
